“Una danza para Violeta” is a homage to Chilean artist, musician and folklorist Violeta Parra. The starting point of the show is “El Gavilan”, an unfinished work by Violeta Parra, which has been given a new interpretation from a flamenco perspective.
During her life, Violeta Parra explored the Spanish traditional music and the “cante” flamenco. She founded the Doroteo Martí company and won a price at the Baquedano Theatre in Santiago. While at the company, she used the stage name of Violeta de Mayo and she sang zambras, farrucas and sevillanas.
"Una danza para Violeta" brings the work of Violeta Parra into a dialogue with the traditional flamenco.
