The Fire Service in Chile is a largely volunteer organisation, a bit like the Lifeboats in the UK. The Society has, in the past, made grants to the British Brigade in Santiago but we have now received an urgent appeal from the country-wide organisation which is in need of funds to acquire suitable PPE for use during the Covid 19 pandemic severely affecting Chile. We have responded with a grant of £2,000 which will enable them to get some of the masks, goggles, gloves and other protective items they need to carry on with their normal professional duties.
