On 3 October 2024 Minister McCarthy of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Minister Pardow of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Chile signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote and strengthen the collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy transition.
The UK and Chile both have legally binding commitments to reach net zero by 2050 and a history of collaboration on energy issues, including via the 2021 UK-Chile Joint Declaration on Low Carbon Hydrogen. This MoU builds on and strengthens this history of collaboration on energy.
