María José is a Chilean athlete living in London for training. For the first time, she and her team has qualified Chile for the Olympic Games in her discipline (ILCA 6 – Sailing). Currently, they are in the midst of internal trials to determine who will represent Chile at the Olympics, and she is currently leading this competition.
In the UK, she is representing not just herself, but also Chile and fellow athletes, and it’s an opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication of Chilean athletes on an international stage.
The United Kingdom has excellent sailors, and her coach is British. Being in the UK allows her to benefit from his experience and expertise, as well as to compete against high-level competition that challenges her to constantly improve.
